Lightfoot Inc. Historic Remodel

A local artist worked with Lightfoot Inc. to turn this historic Canyon Road house into a space that is half art studio, half living area. The remodel involved undoing many years of ill-conceived additions. Among other renovations, Lightfoot installed new, divided-light windows and built two new modern baths, as well as a completely new kitchen with Kohler fixtures, quartz composite countertops, and Tabarka tile.

Designed for practical use, the new space offers a highly flexible design, perfect for creating art, while alos allowing for full-time or guest accommodations. This renovation honors "old Santa Fe" style, adding uniquely authentic detail with rustic wood accents and hand troweled gypsum plaster. Flared and a little wavy, slightly skewed edges surrounding the interior windows are a subtle nod to the Spanish vernacular, framing the Cristo Rey Church and the floating Jemez range to the west. The result is a sensitive celebration of the charming, Pueblo-style homes from Canyon Road's historic heyday.
